Spring Flower Viewing (Hanami)

The days are becoming warmer and sunsets later - spring time is almost here, and that means that so is the hanami season! Every year, Kimono House helps prepare people of all ages for the flower viewing ( hanami ) season. If you walk around parks in Japan during the hanami  season, you can find people enjoying the blossoms from underneath and around the trees at all times of day with bento lunches and drinks (even beer and sake). It's a great example of enjoying life's fleeting moments of beauty. You can never be sure when the next rain will fall and wash away the blossoms in full bloom - so don't wait, plan your cherry blossom viewing now! In NYC, the blossoms generally start blooming at the end of March, peaking at mid April, and the last of the blossoms tapering off in May. Wear Japanese Yukata At Japan Day in Central Park

Japan Day at Central Park is happening on May 13th this year. It's a great chance to go out enjoy the weather and wear Japanese yukata! Yukatas are ideal for wearing at festivals and are very comfortable for the warmer weather. We carry everything you would need for wearing a yukata out for men, women, and children. Many sizes are available including plus size. If you do not know how to properly wear one we can show you how to upon completing your purchase. What to do with that yukata after Japan Day? Well you can wear out to other festivals and events during the spring and summer. You can also wear it at home as a bathrobe. There are many uses for your yukata. Remember Japan Day at Central Park is only a week away so do not wait too long to get a yukata if you want to join in on the fun. Kimono House store hours are 11AM to 7PM Mondays through Saturdays.
